Kate, Nick, Johnny, Sarah and Trevor...

From the vaults of SHOWstudio, surveillance-esque footage of Kate Moss, shot by fashion impresario Nick Knight, as she talks to the artist Sarah Morris (wife of Liam Gillick) about how she acquired some diamonds from Johnny Depp. As if that wasn't enough on its own, even the sound was mastered by a celebrity, in the name of (the defunct) Output Recording's chief, Trevor Jackson. Interestingly, the whole thing looks like a compressed, mobile-phone remake of Sarah Morris' film, Midtown.

It is work remembering the halcyon days pre-Pete, when Kate was an icon par-excellence, not simply the carrot to prompt consumption of Daily Mail owned London Lite.

Lick The Star

Sofia Coppola's first film, the short, 'Lick The Star', from 1998. A high-school tale with the pre-requesite Sofia smattering of teen-aged female petulance.
Part One here. Part Two here.
As an extension, the website for Sofia's 'wine in a can' can perversely be browsed here.

Korine on Letterman, 1995

A pre-bearded Harmony Korine, (or 'Harmful Korine' as he states he was called as a kid) talking on the David Letterman show in 1995, in relation to Kids and future projects.

The Aluminum Fowl

The Aluminum Fowl (2006)
(13 mins 05 sec). Directed by James Clauer. The first film to be produced by Harmony Korine and Agnés b's production company, O'Salvation. Reviewed thus, on the South X Southwest website;
"The Aluminum Fowl is an unusual portrait of four brothers living on a chicken farm in Rural Louisiana. Rich in texture and ambiance, this film explores issues of violence and poverty, while also giving an interesting glimpse of the brothers' daily obsessions with chickens, rap music, and aliens."
Or perhaps rather, 'Gummo does Amores Perros with chickens, in black Louisiana, with a hint of Sun Ra.' Also recalls David Gordon Green's excellent film 'George Washington' from 2000. A proud Nashville article on Clauer, who was formerly the cinematographer on Gummo, can be found, here.

The Kiss (Let's Play Dynasty)

The Kiss (Let's Play Dynasty) (6 mins) - A Visconti inspired remake of a scene from 80s television legacy Dynasty, by artist Francesco Vezolli, who's decadently lustrous "Trailer for a Remake of Gore Vidal's 'Caligula' " staring anyone who's anyone (Helen Mirren, Benicio Del Toro, Courtney Love, Milla Jovovich??!) was the toast of the Venice 2005 Biennale. "The Kiss.." stars Vezzoli himself and Helmut Berger, who this time takes the role of Alexis Carrington, played in the original series by Joan Collins.

Basquiat

Here can be found some truly amazing footage of a very young Basquiat on an almost existentially shambolic public access TV show. (9 mins 43 secs)

POP ART AND HOME TAPING

A concise fusion of blank media and Pop Art. Pop will indeed eat itself...or at least cross promote the tools of its demise... Warhol does TDK. (30 secs)
